There is only one word to describe Christmas in New York City, and that is magic! Ever since I was watching Home Alone with Macalay Culkin as a child, up to my first Christmas in the city in 2005, I realized there is no other place that can equal its charm during the holidays.
Everyone should spend Christmas in New York at least once. The holiday lights, the Rockefeller Christmas Tree and the dazzling store front windows make it truly one of the most beautiful times of year to be in the Big Apple.
Apart from the well-known ice-skating in Central Park, you can also ice skate right under the Rockefeller Christmas Tree or at the more recently Citi Pond Bryant Park ice rink. I have yet to learn to be comfortable on ice skates …. 🙂
My favorite things to do during this time is to listen to Christmas carols, drink hot spicy Christmas wine, eat ginger cookies, go to the park and walk around the city to see all the decorations (the Rockefeller angels are my favorite). It all makes me feel cozy and happy.
You can then shop at the multiple Christmas Markets throughout the city, after which you can catch the amazing Rockettes Christmas musical at the Radio City Music Hall.
What is your favorite Christmas activity?
