Every once in a while, I am asked to pose in cool fashion outfits, encompassing various styles throughout history, for some fabulous fashion illustrators. So far, I’ve had the honor to pose for Bil Donovan, for Would Your Rock This? and for the Society of the Fashion Illustrators.
This fall, the Brooklyn Public Library, a magnificent institution in itself, organized a series of live-sketching of fashion illustration. The extremely talented Jennifer Lilya was asked to teach a few fashion-drawing classes, as well as displaying some of her work at the Fashion Illustration Exhibition.
The below pictures are from one of her latest classes, the theme being 80s New Wave. Jennifer’s fun personality and engaging approach when teaching, really inspired the young students, that went on to create countless drawings. Dyana and I really enjoyed the 80s inspired outfits, and the multitude of wild, crazy bangles she had stored for us.
Check out Jennifer’s work on her blog. She has been been illustrating fashion since the early 90s after graduating from FIT. Her clients include ELLE, WWD, Dolce & Gabbana/Swide, Edelman, Stila Cosmetics, Katy Perry, Timex, Travel + Leisure, California Closets, and many, many more.
Thank you Brandon of Would You Rock This? for organizing this, Barbara of the BPL for having us and to Ms. Aliona Katz for her kindness.
