The second the first blossoms appear, New Yorkers grab their blankets, picnic baskets and off to the parks they go. There are so many ways to enjoy the outdoors in New York City, it’s always hard to pick. But Central Park is the unquestionable king; the iconic park has always attracted tourists and locals alike, for its lovely green pastures, tranquil lakes, cycling tracks, the Zoo and many more. A stroll in Central Park is perfect any season; but at the crack of spring, after a long cold winter, it’s especially delightful and invigorating.

With 843 acres of scenic landscapes and 58 miles of pedestrian paths (open to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic from several different entries around the city), there are countless opportunities for exercise and relaxation.

My favorite spot in the park is by the Jackie Kennedy Reservoir, named in honor of the former first lady who used to run there. It’s the perfect jogging spot given its 1.58 track that encircles the 106-acre body of water. I love to admire the impressive architecture on one side, and the cute ducks swimming in the water on the other.

To get to the Reservoir, hop on the 6 train or 4/5 express train heading uptown. Get off at 86th Street and walk towards Fifth Avenue. The entrance is by 85th Street, free of charge for all!
