Going past the initial shock of how perfect Switzerland can be, my mother and I decided to embark on an expedition of finding “flaws.” The Geneva Old Town, also known as La Vieille Ville – is a picturesque neighborhood of the Francophile city filled with charming cobblestone streets, old buildings and an abundance of sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Perched on a hillside south of the Rhone River, exploring the district on foot is a true pleasure, going from one narrow street to another. The Place du Bourg-de-Four is the traditional center of the Old Town (a former Roman marketplace, the Bourg-de-Four is the oldest public square in Geneva) and a great meeting place for drinks. This is where my mother and I stopped to refuel and snap some quick pictures. The main attraction of the area is undoubtedly the Geneva Cathedral (Cathedrale St-Pierre).
Did we end up finding any flaws? Not really … just the usual cracks that any historical landmark so desperately needs.
