Social Media Week is just a few days away! I am honored and excited to be a panelist for Tuesday’s discussion “Travel photography in the age of Mobile.” Join Gogobot, the largest social network for travelers, Time Magazine’s Top 50 Sites of 2011, and The Mobile Media Lab at Hostelling International New York for a forward-thinking discussion and networking! We will delve into what it means to be a traveler and a photographer in our ever-increasingly digital age.
The schedule is as follows:
6:30-7pm: Arrival
7pm: Introductions
7:15pm: Keynote Speaker, Ben Lowy
7:30-8:30pm: Panel Discussion with Charlie Grosso, John de Guzman, Monica Suma, and Kevin Lu, questions by Gogobot, The Mobile Media Lab, and the audience.
8:30-9:30pm: Networking.
The Keynote Speaker is Benjamin Lowy, an award winning photographer based in New York City. He received a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002 and began his career covering the Iraq War in 2003. Since then he has covered major stories worldwide. In 2011 Lowy’s Iraq | Perspectives work was selected by William Eggleston to win the Duke University Center for Documentary Studies/Honickman First Book Prize in Photography. The book is currently available and in stores now. In 2012, Lowy was awarded the Magnum Foundation Emergency fund to continue his work in Libya. In the same year, he received the International Center of Photography (ICP) Infinity Award for Photojournalism. See more of his photography at benlowy.com
